Made by Women, Worn by You - Why Supporting Women-Owned Businesses Matters

March is for Women: A Celebration of Strength, Style, and Small Business
Fashion is more than just what we wear -it’s a statement of who we are. And behind every timeless piece, there’s a story. At Karen Curtis, that story is one of craftsmanship, creativity, and a commitment to quality. As a woman-owned business in the heart of New York City, I design each piece with intention, ensuring that every crystal, clasp, and chain represents both beauty and empowerment.
March isn’t just about the changing seasons it’s a time to celebrate the women shaping our world, especially in business. As a small, independent brand, I know firsthand the dedication it takes to create something extraordinary. This month, let’s talk about why shopping women-owned matters and why small businesses like mine are worth celebrating every day of the year.
The Power of Shopping Small & Supporting Women in Business
The world of fashion is often dominated by big brands, mass production, and fast fashion. But true luxury isn’t about mass appeal it’s about craftsmanship, quality, and individuality.
When you choose to shop from a woman-owned small business, you’re not just purchasing a product. You’re supporting:
1. Artistry Over Automation
Each Karen Curtis piece is handcrafted in New York using exquisite crystals by Swarovski, fine metals, and unique designs that you won’t find in mass-market stores. Small businesses create with passion, not machines.
2. Ethical, Fair-Priced Luxury
Unlike corporate brands that inflate prices for name recognition, I believe in fair pricing for true craftsmanship. Shopping small means supporting ethical labor and real artisans.
3. Women Entrepreneurs Breaking Barriers
Women-owned businesses make up nearly 40% of all U.S. businesses, yet they receive only a fraction of the funding and support of large corporations. When you support a female founder, you’re uplifting a movement.
Wear Your Values - Why Every Purchase Matters
Fashion is personal. The pieces we wear tell a story. When you shop at Karen Curtis, you’re not just adding sparkle to your collections you’re investing in:
-One-of-a-kind designs made with passion
-Sustainability over mass production
-A woman-owned business dedicated to luxury and quality
This Women's History Month, lets choose to support women, invest in creativity, and celebrate the brands that stand for something real.

Why Supporting Women-Owned Businesses Matters
March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women across all industries. As a woman-owned business, I know firsthand the dedication, passion, and resilience it takes to build something from the ground up. That’s why supporting women entrepreneurs is so important - it empowers creativity, fosters community, and strengthens the economy.
A Special Milestone: My Pop-Up Shop at Grand Central
As a woman business owner, I decided to open my pop-up shop at Grand Central Terminal back in November 2024. Since then, it’s been an exciting journey to showcase my luxury jewelry in the heart of New York City. For the first time since 2017, I’ve returned with my mini storefront at Grand Central as part of a temporary pop-up in the iconic Graybar Passage.
It’s a limited-time opportunity, and I’m thrilled to offer in-person shopping for those who can visit. But, I want to remind you that even if you can’t make it to the kiosk, you can still support by shopping online and enjoying the same handcrafted and luxurious pieces I’ve created.
Visit Grand Central for Limited-Time In-Person Shopping
I’ll be at Grand Central for the a limited time, and if you happen to be in New York City, I’d love for you to stop by and shop in person! Shopping in person at Graybar Passage is a unique experience, and it’s the perfect opportunity to see the craftsmanship of my crystal jewelry up close. Whether you’re searching for a new piece to add to your collection or a one-of-a-kind statement piece, I’m excited to share these creations with you.
Shop Online Anytime
If you’re not in New York or can’t make it to the pop-up, don’t worry, you can still shop my collection online at any time! I continue offering the same beautiful handmade jewelry from my online shop, so no matter where you are, you can still be a part of the Karen Curtis Jewelry story.
At Karen Curtis, I design and handcraft every piece of jewelry in my New York City studio, ensuring quality, uniqueness, and artistry. But I’m not alone in this journey there are many incredible women-owned brands creating beautiful, thoughtful products that deserve recognition.
